Most film cameras and cameras have a tripod mount in the form of a screw thread. A common accessory on and off the camera from the tripod (for example when using different cameras) is often quite time-consuming. Especially at high focal length lenses, which can weigh several kilograms, mounting and unscrewing is very complicated. This problem can be circumvented by the use of the quick release plate.
